Gymkhana fashion up to the second leg with overseas players

Nairobi Gymkhana ‘A’ have had enough of languishing at the bottom of the table throughout the first round of the 2021 Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) 50 – over League and have acquired the services of two professional players. The two will open their season campaign when they face off with Ngara Sports Club ‘A’ this weekend to try and overturn the result they picked at home.

Gymkhana have only two wins from their eight round one matches; stopping Ruaraka Sports Club ‘A’ short of a fourth match winning streak when they bowled them out for 124 runs to win by 5 wickets  and against Shree Cutchi Leva Patel Samaj (SCLPS) ‘A’ last week by 21 runs.

They lie eighth on the ten team table with just six points, with Ngara being two places above them with 16 points from an equal number of matches.

The two all rounders will be a boost to Gymkhana’s batting order that has seen them struggling especially at the top, with 6 different opening combinations that have yielded a high score of 55 (against SCLPS ‘A’.)

They begun the League on a sour note, losing their fixtures and then being penalized two points from their second match for failing to update their electronic scorecard.

With Lucas Ndandason and Dominic Wesonga still away on national duty in Kampala, Uganda for another nine days, the two will slot in their place perfectly with one or two of the youngsters in the unit sliding down to ply their raft in the B – side s Gymkhana play for reclamation.

Ngara showed some top order flex last weekend when Manthan Joshi and Dhey Patel recorded half centuries to solidify the top order and help them to a comfortable 6 – wicket win over Obuya Cricket Academy. With Nikul Patel still away, Ngara will be hoping that Mehul Patel comes back after three weeks away to fix the gap in the middle as they face a more fierce side than they expected, even with home advantage.
