Komanduri runs riot to decimate Ruaraka

Ranganath Komanduri was fierce with the ball, picking 8/27 from his entire allotment to help Stray Cheetah Cricket Club to a five – wicket win over Ruaraka Sports Club ‘B’ in their Division I fixture of the 2021 Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) 50 – over League.

Sent in to bat, Komanduri claimed all the batters save for Hitesh Varsani at 3 and Ramesh Gajipara at 10, five caught and three bowled. In a bizarre innings, Gajipara and Rohan Kerai put up a 50 – run stand for the tenth wicket to pull Ruaraka out of the deep end before Aman Bagath struck at the end of the 36th over to have the former caught by Navpreet Singh for a gutsy 29 runs off 68 balls. Gajipara was the last man to depart, leaving last man Kerai unbeaten on 20 runs from 51 deliveries.

Nitish Hirani (13) and Hitesh Varsani (11) were the only other batsmen to manage double figures as Ruaraka were cleaned up for 107 runs.

Himanshu Rishi claimed the other lone wicket to register 1/19 in 7 overs.

In reply, Cheetah’s top order capitulated to from 2/5 to 3/36 to 4/36 before Himanshu Rishi put on 49 valuable runs in a 53 run unbeaten partnership with Tamish Sharma (17) to guide the team to victory.

Rinkesh Vekariya carried out majority of the assault with the ball for the hosts, taking 3/15 off his entire allotment.
