The 2021 Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) 50 – over League entered its 4th week today with five matches in the Super League division following the reinstatement of Obuya Cricket Academy after settling their outstanding dues with the Association.
Pushkar Sharma fell short of a maiden century and a half but his 144 runs off 139 balls that included 20 boundaries was enough to upend SCLPS ‘A’ bowlers as Ruaraka Sports Club ‘A’ raced to 8/340 and a whopping 128 – run win. He records the highest individual score of the League so far as well.
Sharma put on a 195 – run 3rd wicket partnership with Kenneth Waiswa who blasted 91 runs from 81 balls, twelve fours and two maximums to his tally before being trapped leg before by Hiten Vekaria in the 40th over to deny the Ugandan a bat raise. Sharma had his sticks knocked over by Harshin Varsani three overs later after adding 25 runs to the fourth wicket with Uganda Cricket Cranes skipper Brian Masaba (21) with the scoreboard on 4/290.
Chandresh Hirani stuck in to add 24 runs to the second wicket partnership with Sharma after fellow opener Zephania Arinaitwe was dismissed for a golden duck, the very first delivery of the innings.
Harshit Vekaria (19) and Purshotam Vekariya (11) chipped in.
In reply, Samaj’s batsmen chipped in but regular wickets meant that there were no partnerships to hold on to. The highest partnership came off the fifth wicket between skipper Niraj Patel who also top scored with 33 runs from 43 balls and Sumit Halai (14.)
Opening batsman Rahul Nathani made 32 off 37 balls at the top with Hiiten Vekaria (29), Nikhil Vishram (23) and Darsh Panchani (22) contributing.
Harshin Varsani and Ankit Bhanderi were the pick of the bowlers for Ruaraka with 3/74 and 2/60 from their combined 20 overs.
