The ongoing Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association 50 – over League enters the fourth week this Sunday, 1st August with an upgraded roster in the Super League to include Obuya Cricket Academy (O.C.A.)

O.C.A had been left out in the cold due to their failure to pay outstanding dues to N.P.C.A. They have now been fully reinstated into their rightful position in the League after fulfilling their obligations.

Stray Lions have a full squad with the return of top order batsman Alex Obanda and spinner Hiren Varaiya. The duo is back from taking part in the in the NCBA T20 Cup for Burhani Sports Club who won the finals last Sunday by 4 wickets, Obanda picking the batsman of the series accolades with 493 runs from 10 matches and Varaiya emerging as the bowler of the series with 15 wickets from 8 matches.

Only all-rounder Joseph Onyango, who picked up an injury during their fixture against SCLPS ‘A’ will be out of the playing XI.

We caught up with Stray Lion’s all –rounder David Mutua and asked him whether he is intimidate to face his former Club.  “Not really, he says. This is a chance to prove ourselves and I’m up for it. They haven’t been played for two sessions and that gives us an upper hand especially with the way we have been playing. At the end of the day, we are all professionals and on a winning streak, we look forward to a good game,” says Mutua.

Both Mutua and Gerald Mwenda transferred to Stray Lions from O.C.A.

On his part, Collins Obuya stated that they have what it takes. “It is true that some of our players have made free transfers to other Clubs because our reinstatement into the NPCA League took longer than we expected. However, we are slowly rebuilding our squad, we have been training and playing friendlies and we believe that we are up to the task.” Stated Obuya in a separate interview.
