GOTLEY, LIKAVU HUNT CHEETAHS FOR KONGONIS

KONGONIS CRICKET CLUB A VS NAIROBI GYMKHANA A in a past NPCA League match

The Kenya Kongonis Cricket Club ‘A’ welcomed Stray Cheetah to a 44 – run defeat in their Division I fixture of the ongoing Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA)  50 – over League at Nairobi Club on 25th July 2021.

Kongonis’ top order came out to play, the first five contributing nearly all the runs, including two half centuries from Alex Gotley and Brian Likavu who also added 50 runs to the second wicket.

 Gotley continued with his fine form with a hard earned 70 runs of 64 balls that included only 3 boundaries and one maximum, coming back to impress with 3/29 with the ball.

 Likavu continued to shine with the bat, scoring his third half century in a row to finish on 63 off 92 balls that included three boundaries and an opening partnership of 79 runs with Romal Shah (29) who was dismissed in the 20th over by Navpreet Singh, caught by Abdul Basit.

Gotlry added 74 runs to the3rd wicket with James Allen (34 off 37). Allen stuck in to put up a 27 – run partnership for the 4th wicket with Wycliffe Omagwa (19) to get the team to 222 runs but the scoreboard hardly moved from that point as Kongonis lost 6-10 to end on 10/232 after 44.3 overs.

Ramesh Bora was the pick of the bowlers for Stray Cheetah with 6/30 in his six overs, Navpreet Singh and Lokesh Andand sharing two-a-piece.

In reply, the visitors were poor with their partnerships which undid them in the end. Tamish Sharma top scored for the visitors with 47 off 52 balls that included five boundaries and two maximums. Abdul Basit added 24 off 23 as Lokesh Anand stayed unbeaten on 23 runs. The last six batsmen wrapped up for only 52 runs, the innings ending on 9/188.

Festus Agesa (2/36) and James Allen (2/27) completed the wicket tally for Kongonis.
