Alex Gotley recorded a 113 ball century as the Kenya Kongonis Cricket Club ‘A’ recovered from their 46 –run loss opener to welcome Ruaraka Sports Club ‘B’ with a crushing 99 run defeat in their second outing of the season.
Gotley anchored Kongonis to 4/274 with his 116 runs that consisted of seven fours and four sixes before being caught by Nitish Hirani off Mansukh Hirani’s bowling at the close of the 47th over. Brian Likavu built up on his fine form with a 141 – ball 72 in a grinding 155 – run partnership for the second wicket with Gotley.
Nihil Patel was unbeaten as he added 25 off 13 to the run tally with Wycliffe Omagwa contributing 20 off 25 at the top before playing back to Rinkesh Vekariya in the 9th over.
In reply, Ruaraka were thrown off target by regular felling of wickets starting with David Maina who departed in the first over for a duck. Francis Otieno looked steady in his 41 off 46 before he was stumped off the bowling of Kelvin Nganga in the 38th over, leaving Ruaraka with only two wickets in hand. Tushar Vaghani added 33 runs batting at 9 before contributing to Nganga’s wicket tally as the last man out to leave Ruaraka with only 175 runs on the board.
Pranav Pindoria (24) and Thomas Odoyo (20) were the other contributors with the bat for Ruaraka.
Festus Agesa scalped 3/42 in his 9 overs, assisted by Manvir Grwal (2/26) and Kelvin Nganga (2/16) off 10 and 5.1 overs respectively.
