The NPCA 50 – over week two action continued to impress with the bat, recording six 200 par scores out of the seven matches played, including a successful run chase pitting G.I. Unicorns ‘A’ against Nairobi Gymkhana ‘B.’
Nairobi Gymkhana ‘B’ pulled off a comfortable win of three wickets with 51 balls to spare against G.I. Unicorns ‘A.’
Sent in to bat, the G.I. Unicorns had a shaky start losing Darshal Wadhia (2) with just 9 runs on the board and Mitesh Goswami (21) in the 13th over. However, it was Vishal Sharma who managed to rescue the middle order with 70 runs off 130 balls in a 55 – run partnership for the 5th wicket with Ishan Patel (35 off 38) and 58 runs for the 6th wicket alongside Pragnesh Bhanderi (23 off 35.)
Gymkhana stacked up in the middle order to produce a spectacular run – chase led by Parth Patel’s 75 – ball 59 that included 7 boundaries, topping up a 2/43 performance with the ball off his eight overs.
Anindbhai Patel was solid at the top, hitting one maximum and seven boundaries before falling short of his half century by a solitary run, making way for Aly Khan’s 50-ball 47 with seven boundaries therein.
Parth Patel’s 68 – run partnership with Tej Patel (34) was the crowning glory as the latter was dismissed with just eight runs to win in the 41st over.
Harshal Thakar and Quresh Bhajee shared 2/19 and 2/52 respectively for the Unicorns.
G.I. Unicorns ‘A’ play away to Kanbis Sports Club ‘B’ while Nairobi Gymkhana ‘B’ host Sikh Union ‘B’ this Sunday, 25th July.
